House Prices Hanging in the Balance

We pick up the paper & switch on the news to find the experts telling us that, all is not rosy again in our beloved housing market. That house prices are hanging in the balance and showing a drop of 0.5%.

Depending on what you read or who you listen to will depend on what version you will get as to the reasons and predictions. The only thing they seem to agree on is that it is doom & gloom. This collective negativity they portray only hinders the market recovery as it instills an uncertainty & fear into potential home buyers and mortgage lenders. Lets be positive and look on the bright side. If you are a buyer then things are looking good. Great time for haggling that price down. Until people accept that their homes are only worth what a buyer is prepared to pay, the sooner the market will move forward. I know this is hard for some home owners that have found themselves in negative equity and my heart goes out to them. It was not that long ago that property was seen as a sure investment. The banks are the offenders there and were supposedly the experts when lending the money in the first place. Surely they have to take some of the blame for the thousands of home owners that now find themselves in a negative position.

Yes, its going to be a while until we see a stable balance in the market but whilst we are waiting, lets look to the future and smile for a change and maybe, just maybe, the next time we switch on the news or read the paper, their maybe something to increase our confidence in the housing market again.

Movie Mogul Ltd are a film production company in Wales who we are now supporting by supplying them with boxes for filming purposes. Their latest venture is in association with Screen Academy Wales and John Shackleton who are developing a short film based around a surfer who is blinded in a near fatal hit and run accident. Hips No Longer

Home Information Packs have been suspended and about time to. Maybe it is just me, but would you trust a report/survey that was not commissioned by yourself?

The Government has announced the suspension of Home Information Packs with immediate effect from 21 May 2010.
Homes marketed for sale on or after 21 May 2010 will no longer require a Home Information Pack (HIP).The Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) will be retained. Sellers will still be required to commission, but won't need to have received an EPC before marketing their property.

In an important step at a point of fragile recovery in the housing market, Communities Secretary Eric Pickles and Housing Minister Grant Shapps today announced that with immediate effect, they are suspending the requirement for homeowners to provide a Home Information Pack (HIP) when selling their homes.
Mr Pickles laid an Order suspending HIPs with immediate effect, pending primary legislation for a permanent abolition. The Secretary of State has taken this swift action in order to avoid uncertainty and prevent a slump in an already fragile housing market. Today's announcement sends a clear message of encouragement to people thinking of selling their home that they can put it on the market with less cost and hassle.
HIPs are currently holding back the housing market because sellers are having to fork-out extra cash, sometimes hundreds of pounds, just to be able to put their home up for sale. Suspending HIPs will reduce the cost of selling a home, remove a layer of regulation from the process and provide a welcome help to the housing market during the recovery. It will also mean a saving for consumers to the tune of £870m over ten years, giving sellers more money in their pocket to spend in the wider economy.
Mr Pickles and Mr Shapps also said that the Government is determined to help people reduce their energy bills, improve our energy security and tackle climate change by increasing the energy efficiency of their homes. Sellers will therefore still be required to commission, but won't need to have received, an EPC before marketing their property, and the Government will consider how the EPC can play its part in the new drive for a low carbon and eco-friendly economy.

The Tom Smith Memorial Challenge

Our M.D. Mr Darren Turner together with others are cycling tandem bikes to raise money for Derian House Children's Hospice in memory of a brave 14yr old boy Tom Smith.

The registered charity number is 1005165 and full details can be found at http://www.justgiving.com/thetomsmithmemorialchallenge. All proceeds will go to Derian House Children’s Hospice which specializes in the care of terminally ill children and do a fantastic job. Our connection with Derian House is through a courageous 14yr old boy Tom Smith who sadly lost his battle with cancer on 6th February 2006 after a long determined fight with the disease.

In memory of him our Managing Director Mr Darren Turner, together with others, are challenging themselves to ride 220 miles in 3 days. The Tom Smith Memorial Challenge is not just any old bike ride. Firstly the bikes that are being ridden are tandem bikes and the challenge is to commence as the final whistle blows at Tom’s beloved Turf Moor where Burnley are playing West Ham on Saturday 6th February 2010. The team of riders will then have to ride from Burnley Football Club some 220 miles aiming to arrive at Crawen Cottage in Fulham before the kick off between Burnley v Fulham game on Tuesday 9th February 2010.

Every penny helps so please give generously if you can. I think you will agree, the challenge is going to be no easy task especially if this weather continues and the cause is most definitely a worthy one so please show your support.
